Hallway Lighting

Hallway Lighting

Although most hallways give limited room for design, installing light fixtures can add ambience while also serving a practical function. In this blog we outline some of our favorite hallway lighting approaches to brighten even the tiniest areas of your home.

Multiple Ceiling Lights

If you have a long narrow hallway create a seamless look with a row of fitted ceiling lights. Whilst subtle, ceiling lights are optimal for maximizing the light within a limited space.

Wall Sconces

Spaced evenly throughout your hallway, wall sconces can create a stunning effect especially in shorter spaces. Wall lights can also help draw the attention upwards giving the impression of higher ceilings.

Go oversized!

Oversized pendants are unexpected way to add drama to your hallways. Large pendants can be used to create a strong focal point in a hallway. It is recommended that you leave 4 ft. or 1.2 m of space between the light and the surrounding walls to avoid feeling overly crowded.

Recessed Lights

For a more minimalist approach to your hallway consider installing recessed lights. Known for their concentrated beams, recessed lights are perfect for illuminating longer hallways. A general rule of thumb is to space your lights between six to eight feet apart throughout the designated area.

Display a table lamp

A simple table lamp is great for creating an inviting atmosphere. Position on a console table along with a plant or art piece. This will create a warm island of light to help navigate through the space.
